The ESL Ministry at Agincourt Pentecostal Church (APC) focuses on meeting the many needs of new or recent immigrants, or longer-term residents who desire to learn or to improve their English. Individuals from various age groups can join our classes and meet new friends while working on their listening and speaking skills, without the fear of ridicule. We offer a comfortable, informal environment in which our learners can study English and learn about Canadian culture at the same time. Our goal is to provide a place where people feel welcome and have a sense of belonging.
The ESL teachers, all of whom are volunteers, are from various cultural backgrounds themselves. As a result, they can empathize with our learners’ struggles to feel comfortable with their new environment. Our teachers aim to show love and care to each student that comes into our classes. We welcome you to join our ESL classes at APC because we want to help you to fit in and to feel like a valuable part of our community.
The ESL Ministry offers a variety of English as a Second Language classes at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Students may participate in more than one class, if they so choose.
Classes regularly run for two terms, September – December and January/February – June. Students are able to register to join a class at any time during the term. A select number of classes may be held during the summer months, and details will be announced at an appropriate date.
