  • top Beginners ESL

    This class targets those who have little or some English background and would like to improve in their listening and speaking skills in English. Individuals will learn common phrases that can be used daily. Examples are: learn how to introduce oneself, ask for directions, talk about daily activities, and useful vocabulary. There will be exercises for students to practice speaking and listening to each other in English. The class is meant to be in a comfortable environment so that conversations in English can strike up at any time.

  • top Intermediate ESL

    The Intermediate ESL class meets twice a week and is geared for those individuals who are looking to improve not only their verbal skills but also comprehension, vocabulary, definition of words/phrases. In addition, the use of various idioms and their meanings are studied. The primary goal is to provide a comfortable atmosphere in which individuals learn English without the fear of ridicule. The texts used in class include various short stories since they provide ample opportunity for discussion, interaction as well as pronunciation guidance when the stories are read.

  • top Intermediate ESL - Bible Study

    This intermediate level class meets once per week and uses the bible as the main subject of discussion. Students who are interested to learn more about the bible join this ESL group. The teacher introduces historical and cultural information about the biblical context to help better understand it. Time is spent reading the bible while the discussion focuses on understanding the bible and relating it to present day life. In addition to studying the bible passages, some time is given to introducing useful idioms and other English material to help the ESL learner.

  • top Advanced ESL

    The weekly Advanced ESL class is for anyone who is looking for a friendly place to practice their English and who is beyond the Intermediate level. The texts used for the past year include heart-warming stories, chapters of a novel, a philosophical text and numerous humorous pieces. These provide the basis for discussion and the context for introducing vocabulary, idioms and usage. There is ample opportunity for interactions and pronunciation practice. The variety of activities means that learners of different styles will find it enjoyable.

  • top Beginner Conversational ESL

    This class meets weekly and focuses on discussion and conversation at a beginner level. The teacher leads a discussion about life in Canada and other relevant topics. In addition, special holidays and festivals like New Years, Chinese New Year, Valentines Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. are discussed. Group discussions also include questions about Canadian culture and traditions. Students are encouraged to share opinions and ideas in a friendly small-group setting. Students from all cultures are welcome and contribute to the small group conversation. At certain times in the year, celebrations are held that include food, games and fellowship. If you are a beginner, please don’t feel shy but just come and join us!

    This class meets weekly and focuses on discussion and conversation at an intermediate level. Each teacher leads a discussion about life in Canada and other relevant topics. In addition, special holidays and festivals like New Years, Chinese New Year, Valentines Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. are discussed. Group discussions also include questions about Canadian culture and traditions. Students are encouraged to share opinions and ideas in a friendly small group setting. Students from all cultures are welcome and contribute to an interesting group talk. At certain times in the year, celebrations are held that include food, games and fellowship.
